History
More than a year ago, the mayor of Zamboanguita, Hon. Lourdes B. Adanza, planned to build up the Zamboanguita Science High School but unfortunately she died. So, her son continued her plan, our present Mayor, the Hon. Kit Marc B. Adanza.
The announcing of this project was unexpected and just few elementary graduates were informed, almost after enrollment was past due. The ZSHS staff organized an entrance examination, for those who would like to enroll, which was held in the Gabaldon Building of Zamboanguita Central Elementary School. There were seven students who came. They all passed and were informed to stay first in the Veteran's Office near the Police Station. Out of the seven students who passed the examination, there were only five who came. They introduced themselves to the principal and to their adviser that day and the class was cut – off half day.
The following day, they transferred in the Municipal Gymnasium to have an environment that is conducive to learning. There were also students who transferred from the other high schools in Zamboanguita, namely: Décor Carmeli Academy, Jose Marie Locsin Memorial High School and Santiago Delmo Memorial High School. Still the ZSHS staff were looking for deserving students from these three high schools.
Since the ZSHS proposed classrooms were not yet finished, the students and teachers were still having their classes in the gymnasium. Unfortunately, their classes were transferred to a chapel, which was owned by one of the teachers in ZSHS, Mrs. Luzviminda E. Abejero, because their classes were destructed since the gymnasium is open to public affairs and events. They stayed there until in the 30th day of January, 2009, which was the day when the ZSHS buildings were formally turned – over. To their excitement and unexplainable happiness, the ZSHS students and teachers transferred to their new classrooms.
These were the students who called themselves as the First Five because they were the first five students enrolled in ZSHS. Namely: Stephen Jude Bergado, Sarah Fleur Gaer, Ma. Famela Deloria, Everon Joy Catanus and Germelyn Elnar. If the students called themselves as the First Five, there were also teachers whom we can also call them as the First Four. Namely: Mrs. Rhodaline G. Dizon, Principal; Mrs. Luzviminda E. Abejero, Science; Ms. Carmen P. Baylon, English and Mrs. Jocelyn Elvinia, Filipino.
